[mood]: Under the Influence of Irruption
[music]: Tom Waits: Long Way Home

She was born with words in her
mouth
the familiar taste of
bitter
in the back of her
throat.
stretch marks on her
tongue, walking
backward she will exit by
osmosis.

He is the weight of his
eyes resting upon her
lips, choosing to remember
the things which she will
discard in some dark evening
when he forgets to
look.

She has gone to the
place for girls who have killed the
things they loved.
paper white roots
clinging as they angle toward the sun
petals dying
from lack of irradiation
rusted nails scraping
sadly out of place
against
the tired, cellophane
promise.

[mood]: Under the Influence of Denudation
[music]: Johnny Thunders: You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory

Their faces are
inexplicably woven, their
faces are soldered
together, two
profiles of the same
breath.

The glass ship, the
outline of the wind, the
direction of chained
voices.

Talk in a dark room, a
room without blood, turmoil
yawning beneath the trees.

The terror of a father's hand, the
city in flames, the
hours between their
legs.

The pinioned windows looking
over a static sea, the
odor of love and
bamboo flesh
lost in a dangerous
sentence.

[mood]: Under the Influence of Oppugnancy
[music]: Dresden Dolls: Glass Slipper

Each hour that
afternoon he
remembered
the monster
and the sound of her
voice as she was walking
away

the hours of
drunkenness still kissing his
eyes, this
fragile boy, drowning
in experience

the imprint of her visit upon
his skin, his
body bat-tered, he
takes the
re-mains of his
joy and tucks it
soft-ly between the
c o l d
s t i f f
s h e e t s

the ears and eyes around
him, the
rustle of leaves on a
d e a d
e n d
s t r e e t
the
birds which shriek
accusations
at
impossible hours

the falsity of pushing
forward as
he became smaller and
smaller
in her arms

the venom of her
femininity, the
scrutiny, the
wavering, the
splintering of
devotion, the
great crime of
knowing, the
punishment of
inertia

the
current between her
thighs, the
vows, the
promises which
pull him
